A German of 26 years is charged by U.S. federal authorities for trying to extort $ 100,000 to the former top model Cindy Crawford, it was learned Thursday from justice.
Kayalar Edis, who was recently deported from the United States and returned to Germany – for an unspecified reason – allegedly tried to blackmail Cindy Crawford and her husband, businessman Rande Gerber, threatening to publish a photo of their daughter, tied to a chair and gagged.
Investigators said the photo was taken by the nurse of the girl, then aged 7 years, while they were playing “cops and robbers”. Edis Kayalar have retrieved the photo from the nurse, with whom he maintained a relationship.

The young man then allegedly contacted the former supermodel and her husband, claiming their $ 100,000, on pain of disclosing the photo.
The spokeswoman Cindy Crawford, Annett Wolf, assured in a statement that the couple, who had alerted the FBI after being contacted by Kayalar, supported the prosecution by federal authorities.
“Gerner Rande and Cindy Crawford have the intention to commit all possible prosecutions against anyone who would help (the accused) to distribute or sell the photograph of their daughter,” she wrote in a statement.
The federal authorities for its “in contact with German authorities about this matter,” said Thom Mrozek, a spokesman for the prosecutor’s office.
