The appeal court in Paris overturned Tuesday a decision by the Competition Council (now the Competition Authority) March 13, 2006 against 16 manufacturers and distributors of fragrances accused of cartel.
At the time, LVMH (owner of “Echoes”), L’Oreal, PPR, Chanel, Marionnaud, Sephora, etc.., Were fined a total of 46.2 million euros for colluding on the pricing from 1997 to 2000.

The court justified its decision by the long delay between the facts and sentencing. The judge ruled that the delay had “prevented companies from using evidence that could counter those of the French regulator of competition.”
